  • What are the new credit card guidelines about?

The revised credit card guidelines issued in April 2011 state the following:

    • To be a principal cardholder, a person should earn at least a minimum income of RM24,000 per annum
    • Cardholder with annual income of RM36,000 or less is allowed to hold credit cards from maximum of two issuers only
    • Cardholder with annual income of RM36,000 or less, is assigned a maximum credit limit of two times his monthly income per issuer
  • How will this impact me?

If you fall within the confinement of the guidelines, you can only hold credit cards from a maximum of two (2) issuers; where each issuer can only accord up to two (2) times your monthly income. In other words, you will need to reduce the number of cards and only enjoy credit limit of up to two (2) times your monthly income per issuer.
  • Why do I need to update my latest income?

If you were contacted by us recently, it is most likely that your annual income on our record is RM36,000 or less; although that may not be the case. Therefore we would appreciate if you could submit your latest income documents to avoid any interruptions.
  • What will happen if I do not submit my income documents due to my annual income is RM36,000 or less?

We will revise your credit limit in accordance to your income in our records. You will be notified in advance if there is any revision on your credit limit.

Yes. We appreciate if you could submit your latest income documents in order for us to update our record. As such, you can continue enjoying a range of privileges and benefits that come with OCBC Credit Card.
  • Do I need to make full repayment to my outstanding balance if the credit limit is revised?

You will be given a grace period to settle the outstanding balance in your account. Do contact us immediately to arrange for this facility.
  • What will happen when my annual income is RM36,000 or less while I am holding credit cards from more than 2 issuers?

You will need to select your preferred 2 issuers and cancel credit cards from the remaining issuers. The bank will review your eligibility on your OCBC Credit Card anniversary date and advise you accordingly.
