OCBC Malaysia partners CGC for RM1.3 billion guarantee facility to boost financing for SMEs

  • 28 Jul 2026

OCBC Malaysia, comprising OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad and its Islamic banking subsidiary, OCBC Al-Amin Bank Berhad, today formalised a new guarantee collaboration with Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad (CGC) for a RM1.3 billion guarantee facility to expand financing access to small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The latest allocation is expected to benefit more than 3,000 SMEs.

Through its longstanding partnership with CGC, OCBC Malaysia has supported more than 10,000 SMEs with RM4.2 billion financing backed by CGC guarantees, encompassing both Islamic and conventional financing solutions. With the latest RM1.3 billion facility, the Bank will increase its total guarantee coverage to RM5.5 billion.

The collaboration was signed by Mr Chan Kok Leong, Head of Emerging Business, OCBC Malaysia, and Mr Sean Tan, Chief Business Officer of CGC. The signing was witnessed by Mr Tan Chor Sen, Chief Executive Officer of OCBC Malaysia; Tuan Syed Abdull Aziz Syed Kechik, Chief Executive Officer of OCBC Al-Amin; and Encik Mohamed Nazri Omar, President and Chief Executive Officer of CGC.

During the ceremony held at Menara OCBC, Mr Tan Chor Sen said that the Bank’s collaboration with CGC reflects OCBC Malaysia’s commitment to empowering SMEs in the country. “SMEs are navigating an increasingly dynamic business environment while preparing for future growth opportunities. As their needs evolve, access to the right financial support becomes critical to building resilience, enhancing competitiveness and driving long-term success. Through our collaboration with CGC, we can provide SMEs with greater access to flexible and responsive financing solutions that support businesses at different stages of growth, from emerging entrepreneurs to more established companies. Together, we aim to help SMEs scale with confidence, strengthen their businesses and contribute meaningfully to Malaysia’s economic progress.”

Encik Mohamed Nazri Omar, President and Chief Executive Officer of CGC said, “Our collaboration with OCBC Malaysia demonstrates how strong institutional partnerships can translate into meaningful financing opportunities for commercially sound businesses whose growth is constrained by collateral rather than by capability. By combining OCBC Malaysia's market reach with CGC's guarantee expertise, we are creating a stronger financing ecosystem that enables more SMEs to participate meaningfully in Malaysia's economic growth.”

The RM1.3 billion financing backed by the guarantee facility is open to OCBC Malaysia’s new and existing customers, particularly within the Bumiputera community. There is also a scheme to support targeted segments under Bank Negara Malaysia’s SME Stabilisation Relief Facility (SRF).
