OCBC Al-Amin ushered in Ramadan by distributing bubur lambuk and strengthening community bond

  • 24 Feb 2026

OCBC Al-Amin Bank Berhad (OCBC Al-Amin) ushered in Ramadan with its annual distribution of bubur lambuk around Masjid Jamek Sultan Abdul Samad Kuala Lumpur (Masjid Jamek), underscoring the Bank’s commitment to serving and supporting the community where it operates.

Bubur lambuk, a fragrant and nourishing rice porridge, is traditionally prepared and shared during Ramadan as a symbol of togetherness and generosity.

According to OCBC Al-Amin CEO Tuan Syed Abdull Aziz Syed Kechik, “Our annual bubur lambuk distribution with our neighbour Masjid Jamek on the first working day of Ramadan has become a familiar part of the season for many in the area, bringing us together to share blessings and uphold its true spirit,” he said.

The Bank will also be distributing bubur lambuk at Yayasan Anak-Anak Yatim Wardatul Jannah, an orphanage home near its Kota Damansara branch on 28 February 2026.

Further strengthening the Bank’s efforts to deliver meaningful social impact, OCBC Al-Amin also recently allocated zakat (obligatory almsgiving in Islam) funds to sponsor a new classroom at Politeknik Malaysia Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, and a library lounge area at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia, Melaka. Additionally, the Bank supports foodbanks for underprivileged students at both institutions, further contributing to their welfare and educational environment.

Held in collaboration with Pusat Pungutan Zakat-MAIWP, these initiatives reflect the bank’s commitment to channel zakat contributions from its customers and staff toward projects with long-term, transformative value.

“We are truly grateful to Masjid Jamek and Pusat Pungutan Zakat-MAIWP for partnering with us once again. We will also be hosting a Buka Puasa (breaking fast) session and a food basket assistance programme for the underprivileged with Masjid Jamek later this month. We hope for a meaningful Ramadan and look forward to 1 Syawal in good spirits,” said Tuan Syed Abdull Aziz.

Since its establishment in December 2008, OCBC Al-Amin has been among Malaysia’s top foreign Islamic banks, consistently ranking in the top two by assets since 2013.

OCBC Al-Amin offers its products and services through the 38 OCBC branches nationwide, including 7 that are standalone Islamic banking branches.
