OCBC Cycle Kuala Lumpur marked its ninth edition last Sunday, bringing together 3,000 cyclists from Malaysia and 29 other countries, reaffirming its position as the city’s leading mass cycling event. 

The event featured its flagship 50-kilometre category (two loops of the 25-kilometre route), alongside a 25-kilometre category. Participants cycled through the city centre, passing iconic landmarks such as Dataran Merdeka, KLCC, Tugu Negara, the Sultan Abdul Samad Building and the nearby Menara OCBC headquarters, giving them a rare opportunity to ride through the heart of the city on closed roads.

The race was flagged off by the Minister of Federal Territories, Yang Berhormat Puan Hannah Yeoh Tseow Suan; Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Dato’ TPr. Fadlun bin Mak Ujud; and Chief Executive Officer of OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad, Mr Tan Chor Sen. 

Yang Berhormat Puan Hannah Yeoh Tseow Suan said, “The best cities are not simply places we pass through, but they are places we want to spend time in. Through events like OCBC Cycle KL, we are creating a Kuala Lumpur that is healthier, more vibrant and more enjoyable for residents and visitors alike.”

Among the participants was Tuan Syed Abdull Aziz Syed Kechik, Chief Executive Officer of OCBC Al-Amin Bank Berhad, who took part in the 25-kilometre category. Tuan Syed said, “Cycling alongside 300 OCBC colleagues through Kuala Lumpur’s iconic landmarks on traffic-free roads was a powerful reminder of our shared spirit and what we can achieve together. Having participated in this event over the years, I have seen how it brings colleagues together beyond the workplace.”

A key highlight this year was the debut of The KL Steadiest Rider Challenge, which put participants’ balance, control and precision to the test. Held immediately after the main event, riders navigated a 10- to 50-metre course with the objective of completing the ride without putting a foot down.  Crowd favourites also returned, including The KL Mayor’s Ride — a 50-kilometre team category for groups of 10 riders — as well as the Kids’ Push Bike category for children aged 3 to 9, reinforcing the event’s appeal across all age groups.

More than 60 winners were recognised across all categories, including the 50-kilometre races, The KL Mayor’s Ride team category, and the Kids’ Push Bike category for young riders.

OCBC Cycle Back in Johor Bahru on 11 October 2026
Building on this success, OCBC Cycle will return to Johor Bahru on 11 October 2026 for its second year, featuring 42-kilometre and 21-kilometre routes for experienced and recreational cyclists. Participants can expect a scenic closed-road ride past iconic landmarks such as Dataran Bandaraya Johor Bahru, Istana Besar Johor and Masjid Sultan Abu Bakar, promising an unforgettable journey through the heart of the city.
