OCBC Malaysia rolls out latest brand campaign

  • 18 Sep 2025

OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad (OCBC Bank) has rolled out its part of a broader OCBC Group-wide regional brand campaign with a heartfelt Lenggong-inspired brand video, which beautifully captures what the Bank stands for: Purpose and uplifting others.

Building on the theme of the OCBC Group-wide regional brand campaign, “Purpose is About Lifting Others,” the Malaysia edition “Bangkitlah Kampungku (Let’s Rise My Kampung)” spotlights real-life local hero Nash Jalaludin, whose dedication to his community perfectly embodies the campaign’s message. Nash, a globe-trotting hotelier for over 30 years, returned to his home in UNESCO heritage site of Lenggong, Perak following his father’s sudden passing.

Witnessing the challenges faced by his villagers, he decided to leverage his expertise in the hotel industry to transform his ancestral traditional Malay house, Rumah Tiang 16, into a heritage homestay. Along the way, Nash empowered his fellow villagers to take pride in their cultural roots and harness their heritage to create meaningful tourism experiences.

Through Rumah Tiang 16, Nash not only promoted Lenggong’s rich history, crafts, and traditions, but he also revitalised his local community.

“We chose Nash as the hero of our campaign because his actions and contributions truly reflect what OCBC stands for. We believe that true purpose is found in uplifting others. Success is not just personal achievement; it becomes meaningful when it inspires and is shared with those around us,” said Ms Ann Lim, Head of Brand & Communications, OCBC Bank.

The broader regional campaign, running across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Hong Kong, features everyday heroes whose aspirations drive community impact. Created by GOVT Singapore, the campaign marks a strategic shift from personal ambition to collective uplift, showcasing how real people are achieving more than individual success.

Shot on location in the respective countries, the films bring to life OCBC’s broader cross-market relevance, while reinforcing its brand promise of enabling aspirations, not just for individuals, but for the communities they serve. Other personalities involved in the various markets are Beverly Wan, founder of Frisque SG, Singapore’s first homegrown circus; Narendra Archie, an Indonesian chef and food consultant; and Ho Yuen Kei, Hong Kong’s Boccia world champion.

“As in the other markets, through Nash’s inspiring purpose-driven story, we are seeking to convey the message that at the core of our business is a commitment to helping individuals and communities to realise their own aspirations,” Ms Lim said.

Nash said he was pleased to be hand-picked by the Bank as an example of what it means for purpose to uplift others.

“I am truly grateful to OCBC for giving me the opportunity to share my story—one that is deeply intertwined with the history and spirit of Lenggong—to inspire others to uplift their own communities. Rumah Tiang 16, my ancestral home turned homestay, was built by my father in 1974, embodying a regal Perak Malay-styled style. Its 16 pillars, crafted from chengal and meranti wood, stand as a testament to our heritage. I found myself standing at the doorstep of a living archaeological and architectural treasure, nestled within the pristine valley. It was then that I dreamt of turning it into a homestay. This vision grew into a larger community initiative that not only preserves our village culture but also revitalizes the spirit and livelihood of the community. The OCBC brand campaign beautifully highlights our shared journey, celebrating the power of community wellbeing and collective resilience,” he said.

The OCBC Group’s 2025 campaign serves as a continuation of its long-standing commitment to enabling individuals and communities to realise their aspirations, while also demonstrating its cross-market connectivity and relevance across ASEAN and Greater China.
