CEO and senior executives of OCBC Malaysia pay courtesy visit to Premier of Sarawak

CEO of OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad (OCBC Bank) Mr Tan Chor Sen along with his senior-most executives today paid a courtesy visit to Premier of Sarawak Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg at his Wisma Bapa Malaysia office in Petra Jaya.

During the visit, Mr Tan affirmed the Bank’s commitment to the State’s strategic initiatives towards championing economic prosperity, social inclusivity and environmental sustainability.

Apart from Mr Tan, the Bank was represented by Tuan Syed Abdull Aziz Syed Kechik, CEO, OCBC Al-Amin Bank Berhad; Ms Tan Ai Chin, Managing Director, Senior Banker & Head of Investment Banking, OCBC Bank; Mr Jeffrey Teoh, Managing Director & Head of Corporate & Commercial Banking, OCBC Bank; and Ms Jessie Lim, Managing Director, OCBC Kuching Branch.

Mr Tan said Sarawak remains a vitally important part of OCBC Malaysia’s strategic thrust in contributing to the economic growth of Malaysia, which is an important key market to OCBC Group.

“We would like to reaffirm OCBC Malaysia’s long-term commitment to Sarawak as the first and longest serving foreign bank here, having been part of the local community since 1948.

“We are deeply honoured with the opportunity to explore with the Premier of Sarawak how we can continue in our role as a key financial partner to facilitate and support the Premier’s transformation plans under the  Post Covid 19 Development Strategy 2030. We will leverage on our strong regional franchise to collaborate with the State to facilitate trade and investment flow from potential investors outside of Malaysia to tap into the potential and also to contribute to the economic growth of Sarawak,” he said.

OCBC Malaysia’s participation in the recent Asia Carbon Conference as Gold Sponsor is one of the more recent examples of how the Bank has sought to work with the Sarawak government and its agencies and local establishments to ensure the state continues to thrive under the leadership of the Premier.
