Dr. Khairul Anuar was appointed as Shariah Committee of OCBC Al-Amin in April 2021. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Shariah from University of Malaya and obtained his Master’s Degree in Shariah from the same university. He then obtained his PhD in Islamic Banking and Finance from International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM).
He currently serves as Senior Lecturer at Selangor Islamic University. His specialised areas are Fiqh Muamalat (Islamic Law of Transaction) as well as Islamic Economics and Banking.
Dr. Khairul Anuar previously served as the Shariah Committee member of HSBC Amanah since 2005. He also currently serves as a Shariah Committee member of FWD Takaful Bhd.
Prof. Dato' Dr. Wan Sabri was appointed as Shariah Committee of OCBC Al-Amin in June 2011. He holds a Ph.D and Master of Arts from Temple University, USA (specialised in Islamic Thought and Comparative Religion). He also holds a Master of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Heritage (IRKH) (specialised in Tafsir) and Bachelor of (Economic) Islamic Economics from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
He is currently the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah (USAS). His main areas of interest are Islamic Economic, Islamic Thought and Comparative Religion and ethics. He had published numerous articles and books among others monograph on prominence Muslim scholars in this region, Issue in Islamic Thought and Tafsir (Quranic exegesis).
Prof. Dato' Dr. Wan Sabri had previously served as Shariah Committee member for Great Eastern Takaful Berhad, Southern Bank Berhad, CIMB Islamic and Alliance Bank.
Mr. Faizal Jaffar was appointed as Shariah Committee of OCBC Al-Amin in May 2020. He holds Master of Science in Islamic Finance from International Center for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) and BA (Hons) in Accountancy from University Technology MARA (UiTM). He also holds Chartered Accountant from Malaysian Institute of Accountant and was a member of Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) from Australia.
He started his career with Bank Negara Malaysia since 1986 and served for 33 years until his retirement in 2019. He was first attached to Finance department handling treasury settlement, budgeting, payment settlement and accounting system development. He was then promoted to Islamic Banking and Takaful Department where his last position was as Deputy Director of Islamic Banking and Takaful Department. During his tenure at BNM, he had led various initiatives to formulate sound and robust regulatory and prudential policies for Islamic banking industry, covering financial and Shariah policies. He also developed and oversaw the implementation of strategies and policies to ensure talent institutions for Islamic finance continue to be efficient, effective and dynamic to meet the increasing talent demand in the sector.
Mr. Rofaizal holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Shariah law from the International University of Africa, Sudan and obtained his Master of Business Administration (Islamic Banking) degree from the National University of Malaysia. He is now pursuing his PhD at the same university.
He currently serves as a lecturer at Selangor Islamic University. His specialised areas are Fiqh Muamalat (Islamic law of transaction) as well as Islamic banking and finance. Prior to joining academia, he served as a Shariah officer at Aftaas Syariah Advisory Sdn Bhd and Kopsya Angkasa Bhd.
He is the Shariah Adviser of Koponas Bhd and Kopsya Angkasa Bhd and serves as a Shariah Coordinator for Afsya Shariah Advisory Sdn Bhd.
Dr. Mohd Hilmi holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Islamic Revealed Knowledge from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and obtained his Master’s Degree and Ph.D from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He currently serves as Senior Lecturer at Raja Zarith Sofiah Centre for Advanced Studies on Islam, Science and Civilization (RZS-CASIS), UTM. His specialised areas are Shariah law, Islamic commercial law as well as Islamic banking and finance. Prior to joining academia, he has vast working experience handling Shariah related functions during his tenure with Affin Islamic Bank and Deutsche Bank (Malaysia).
Previously, Dr. Mohd Hilmi served as the Shariah Committee member of Deutsche Bank (Malaysia) since 2014.
