1: What is OCBC Rewards Programme?
 

The OCBC Rewards Programme is a programme, which allows you to accumulate reward points, OCBC$, when you charge retail purchases to the OCBC Visa or MasterCard cards.

2: Who is eligible to participate in the OCBC Rewards Programme?
  The OCBC Rewards Programme is opened to OCBC Visa or MasterCard basic Cardmembers (except Cardmembers whose accounts have been suspended or terminated).

3: How can I earn OCBC$?
  Charge all your retail purchases to the OCBC Credit Card. Every RM1 earns you 1 OCBC$. Retail purchases charged to the supplementary card also contributes to the basic's OCBC$ account.

4: What type of transactions do not contribute OCBC$?
  Annual fees, interests, late payment charges, goods and services tax, cash advances, balance transfer and other fees and charges shall not be taken into account in the computation of OCBC$.

5: How long can I keep the OCBC$?
  The OCBC$ is valid for a period of one year, OCBC$ period. The OCBC$ period follows the anniversary of the card account.

6: When can I redeem the OCBC$ for rewards?
  The OCBC Rewards catalogue and offers are valid from May 2005 till 30 June 2006 unless otherwise stated. Redemption of OCBC Rewards must be made on or before 30 June 2006 or the expiry date of your OCBC$ (whichever is earlier).

7: Is there a limit to the number of redemption of rewards?
  Where OCBC$ are available, number of redemption is unlimited, unless otherwise stated.

8: How do I redeem the OCBC$ for rewards?
  Just complete and fax the redemption form to 03-2694 4535.
You may also call our OCBC Customer Service Officers at 1300-88-5000.
The redemption form is available in the OCBC Rewards Catalogue and at OCBC website www.ocbc.com.my or internet facility, ecafe.

9: Can I combine the OCBC$?
  Yes, if you hold both the OCBC Visa and MasterCard cards. Combination of OCBC$ is only applicable for redemption of gifts and/or vouchers.

10: What can I do with the OCBC$ earned?
  You may use the OCBC$ to:-
  1. Redeem gifts and/or vouchers
  2. Waive annual fees or
  3. Contribute to charity organisations or
  4. Premium rebate (Only applicable in blocks of 2500 OCBC$)
  5. Platinum cash rebate (Only applicable for Platinum Cardmembers with a minimum of 10,000 OCBC$ in their card account)

11: How can I use the OCBC$ to waive my annual fees?
  You will have to notify the Bank if you would like to use the OCBC$ to waive your annual fee. You can either complete the redemption form and fax it to 03-2694 4535 or call our OCBC Customer Service Officers at 1300-88-5000.

If the OCBC$ is insufficient for a full waiver, select any tier for the part waiver of the annual fee.

The annual fee waiver is applicable for both the basic and supplementary cards.

For example:-
A Visa Classic Card account with basic and a supplementary card has 9,000 OCBC$. Upon anniversary of the card account, the account qualifies for a 50% annual fee waiver. Hence, the system automatically deducts RM35 for the basic and RM15 for the supplementary card (annual fee is RM70 for basic and RM30 for supplementary).

12: How can I contribute to charity?
  You may donate 50% or 100% of your OCBC$ to charity. Just complete and fax the redemption form to 03-2694 4535 or call our OCBC Customer Service Officers at 1300-88-5000.

13: How is the OCBC$ donated to charity?
  5 charitable organisations have been selected to participate in the OCBC Rewards Programme. Every month, the total funds collected will be divided equally to the following organisations:-
  • Women's Aid Organisation Child Care Centre (WAOCCC)
  • HOSPIS Malaysia
  • Rumah Orang Tua Paya Ikan Bukit Baru, Melaka
  • Malaysian Care
  • Paediatric Intensive Care Unit of UM Medical Centre

14: How can I redeem for the premium rebate?
  The premium rebate is only applicable to Great Eastern (GE) Cardmembers for purchases of new insurance products from Great Eastern Assurance (Malaysia) Berhad or Overseas Assurance Corporation (Malaysia) Berhad. Minimum OCBC$ required for redemption of Premium Rebate is 2,500 OCBC$ and redemption of Premium Rebate may be made when the accumulated OCBC$ had reached multiples of 2,500 OCBC$. The Premium Rebate will be issued in a form of cashier order.

15: How can I redeem for Platinium rebate?
  The Platanium rebate is only applicable to Platinium Cardmember minimum OCBC$ required for redemption of Premium rebate is 10000 OCBC$, and the Platinium rebate will be credited to the Platinium Card account and will be reducted in the monthly statement.

16: How can I check the OCBC$ earned?
  Your OCBC$ is indicated in your monthly statement of account. Your OCBC$ will be valid for 12 month which the available points and expiry date will be displayed in your monthly statement. Apart from the 12-month validity, there is also an extended period of 3 months for Cardmembers to utilize the OCBC$, extended points and expiry date will also be displayed in your monthly statement. You may also call our OCBC Customer Service Officers to check the balance. The Points Earned To-date is also reflected in ecafe, internet.

17: How long does it take for delivery of the OCBC Rewards?
  Arrangements will be made to deliver the OCBC Rewards within two to four weeks (barring any unforeseen circumstances).

18: Will I be charged for the delivery of gifts?
  A courier charge will be debited from the card account for delivery of gift items to addresses in East Malaysia and West Malaysia , if any. The courier charges are shown and stated in the page “Rewards at a Glance”. However, no delivery will be made to P.O. Box or overseas address. For such cases, Cardmember has to provide an alternative address.

19: What happens if the goods received are defective?
  In the event the reward item received is damaged or has a manufacturing defect, Cardmember can call OCBC call center at 1300-88-5000 to report the defect and/or return the goods to the address below within seven (7) working days from the date of receipt. Any claims after the seven working days’ period will not be entertained. Cardmember is not allowed to change this item for a different type of item.

20: Can I carry forward the OCBC$ earned after the OCBC$ period?
  No. Unutilised OCBC$ will be extended for a period of three months, after which, these unutilised OCBC$ will be invalid.

21: How I can participate in the 'points plus cash' offers?
  Just indicate the code for the ‘points plus cash’ offers on the redemption form and fax the form to 03-2694 4535. You may also call our OCBC Customer Service Officers to redeem these offers. Upon processing, the OCBC$ will be deducted from the OCBC$ account and the cash component will be debited to the card account.

22: Why can't the points be evergreen?
  We prefer to ensure that the OCBC$ are fully utilized. This is because although points are accumulated without expiry or a longer period, often Cardmembers end up not utilizing the points at all. We would like our Cardmembers to experience gift redemption every year. Apart from the one year validity, there is also an extended period of 3 months for Cardmembers to utilize the OCBC$.

23: Is there any difference between this Rewards programme and others?
  The OCBC Rewards programme is quite similar to most others. However, we do offer a wide selection of more than 100 items and services in our year long catalogue and cardmembers have the added benefit of instant discounts and privileges for dining, shopping, etc. in Malaysia and Singapore.

24: Where are the Terms and Conditions (T&Cs) found?
  The T&Cs and What You Need to Know before Making Your Selection are found in the OCBC Rewards catalogue. Cardmembers can also refer to the website for the latest update and changes, if any, on the T&Cs.

25: Why are the courier costs for EM so high?
  Courier companies charge a flat fee for designated locations. As a number of areas in EM are not easily accessible the courier charge is higher.

26: What is the validity period for the vouchers?
  KFC, Pizza Hut, Holiday Villa Buffet Dinner, Haagen Dazs and Homelife vouchers are valid for one year from the date of issuance. For eg. If Cardmember redeems on May 05, the voucher will be valid from May 05 to Apr 06 . Dome and TGV Vouchers are valid for 3 months from the date of issuance. For eg. If Cardmember redeems on June 06, the vouchers will be valid from June to Aug 05.

27: Can I change or cancel my redemption request after I have made one?
  All OCBC Rewards accepted by Cardmembers in good condition are strictly non-returnable and non-exchangeable.
