Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Naim bin Omar (Shariah Committee Chairman)
Asst. Prof. Dr Muhammad Naim was appointed as Shariah Committee of OCBC Al-Amin in June 2011. He holds a Ph.D from University of Wales, United Kingdom (specialised in the Islamic Law), MA (Shariah Law) from Cairo University and BA (Hons) Shariah Law from University of al-Azhar, Egypt.

He is currently the Head of Department of Islamic Law, Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).His areas of interest among others, cover Islamic Law of Transaction, Islamic Legal System and Islamic Jurisprudence.

Asst. Prof. Dr Muhammad Naim has presented and published numerous articles and papers on many subjects especially in his areas of interest, which are Islamic Transaction Law, Islamic Wealth Management and Islamic Law of Contract.

Asst. Prof. Dr Muhammad Naim also currently serves as Group Shariah Committee member of MNRB Holdings Berhad and a Shariah Committee of Lembaga Zakat Selangor.




Professor Dr. Abdullah @ Alwi bin Haji Hassan (Shariah Committee Member)
Prof. Dr. Abdullah @ Alwi has served as a member of Shariah Committee of OCBC Bank (M) Berhad since 30 September 2003 and later OCBC Al-Amin Bank Berhad. He graduated with the Higher Certificate and Diploma of Education from the Muslim College of Malaya in 1969 and 1970 respectively. In 1971, he obtained a B.A. (Al-`Aliyah) in Islamic Law from the University of Al-Azhar, Cairo, Egypt. In 1979, he graduated with M.Phil. (Law) from the University of Kent, England, United Kingdom. In 1986, he obtained his Ph.D. in Islamic Law from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom.

Until his retirement in 2006, he held various academic and administrative posts at University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. His last administrative post at the same University was the Head of Shariah and Economy Department, Academy of Islamic Studies. From September 2006 until July 2009, he was appointed as a Professor of Islamic Law at the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (ISTAC), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He is currently a Professor at the School of Arts, Humanities and Social Science, Asia e University (AeU), Kuala Lumpur since October 2008.

Professor Dr Abdullah is the author of an Islamic commercial book titled Sales and Contracts in Early Islamic Commercial Law. He also wrote many academic articles and books especially in his expertise which are Islamic Transaction Law, Islamic Wealth Management and Takaful. He previously served as Chairman of the Shariah Committee of American Takaful International Sdn Bhd (AIG Group) since 2009 until 2013 and as a member of boards of studies and as an assessor for the exercise of promotion to the posts of associate professorship and professorship in various public and private universities in Malaysia.




Prof. Dato' Dr. Wan Sabri bin Wan Yusof (Shariah Committee Member)
Prof. Dato' Dr. Wan Sabri was appointed as Shariah Committee of OCBC Al-Amin in June 2011. He holds a Ph.D and Master of Arts from Temple University, USA (specialised in Islamic Thought and Comparative Religion). He also holds a Master of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Heritage (IRKH) (specialised in Tafsir) and Bachelor of (Economic) Islamic Economics from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

He is currently the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah (USAS). His main areas of interest are Islamic Economic, Islamic Thought and Comparative Religion and ethics. He had published numerous articles and books among others monograph on prominence Muslim scholars in this region, Issue in Islamic Thought and Tafsir (Quranic exegesis).

Prof. Dato' Dr. Wan Sabri also currently serves as a Shariah Committee member of Great Eastern Takaful Berhad. Prior to that, he was a Shariah Committee member for Southern Bank Berhad, CIMB Islamic and Alliance Bank.




Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamad Asmadi bin Haji Abdullah (Shariah Committee Member)
Assoc. Prof. Dr Mohamad Asmadi was appointed as Shariah Committee of OCBC Al-Amin in April 2014. He holds a Ph.D from University of Durham, UK. In addition, he also holds a Master of Comparative Laws from International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM). He obtained his double Degree in LLB (Bachelor of Laws) and LLB.S (Bachelor of Shariah) from the same University.

He is currently a lecturer at Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), IIUM as an Associate Professor. His specialised areas are Islamic law of Property, Transactions, Banking and Takaful as well as comparative laws. He has vast experience in teaching for postgraduate as well as undergraduate in various courses such as Introduction to Usul al-Fiqh, Law of Succession (Fara`id), Islamic Law of Transactions (Fiqh al-Muamalat), Islamic Legal System and Islamic Constitutional Law.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamad Asmadi had previously served as the Shariah Committee member with OSK Investment Bank until April 2013. He also currently serves as a Shariah Committee member of AIA Public Takaful Bhd.




Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suhaimi Ab Rahman (Shariah Committee Member)
Associate Professor Dr Suhaimi Ab Rahman was appointed as Shariah Committee of OCBC Al-Amin in September 2016. He obtained his PhD in Comparative Business Law from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, United Kingdom, Masters of Comparative Laws from International Islamic University of Malaysia, and B.A. (Hons) in Islamic Law (Shariah) from Al-Azhar University, Egypt. He is also certified as a Professional Trainer (CPT-MIM) by Malaysian Institute of Management, and Professional Entrepreneurial Educator by Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia.

Currently, he is the head of the Department of Management and Marketing, Faculty of Economics and Management, Universiti Putra Malaysia. He teaches Halal Philosophy, and Business Law and Ethics at both degree and post-graduate level. Prior to his appointment as the head of the Department of Management and Marketing, he was seconded as an Assistant Professor in Business Law to College of Business, University of Dammam, Saudi Arabia. He specializes in Islamic law (Shariah), comparative business law, commercial law, Islamic banking, and halal business and management.

Associate Professor Dr Suhaimi Ab Rahman is also a Shariah committee member of Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Berhad (EXIM Bank), and a Shariah council member of the QSR Brands Sdn. Bhd. Prior to this, he was also appointed as a Shariah committee member of Koperasi Universiti Putra Malaysia, and a Shariah committee member of Dana Wakaf Ilmu (DWI) Universiti Putra Malaysia.
